The Singapore Taman Jurong Dragon and Lion Dance troupe is presently in Marseille from 30 May to 11 June to participate to “Transhumance”. This project is developed by the Théâtre du Centaure in the occasion of Marseille-Provence 2013, European capital of culture.
The two performing groups initially met up during the Singapore Arts Festival 2012, when the Théâtre du Centaure presented its equestrian show. The great chemistry between the two groups has culminated in the invitation to Marseille for a “Transhumance” of several days in different areas of Marseille and around the area of Marseille. It is a unique opportunity for the French to discover a traditional art from Singapore.
The dragon and the Centaur will perform during the TransHumans picnic at Port de Bouc this Thursday 6th June. Then, on Friday 7th June and Saturday 8th June, the dragon will do a series of performances on the campsite set up in Marseilles at Campagne Pastré. And finally, the dragon will participate at the great crossing of Marseille on 9th June, next to the Lion Dance troupe from the amicale des Chinois de Marseilles, along the beaches of Prado.
This initiative is supported by The National Arts Council, People’s Association and the town of Marseille.
