The 24th and the 25th of October, let your steps guide you to the Esplanade Theater to meet Benjamin Millepied and his L.A. Dance Project.
Past dance director at the Opéra de Paris and New York City Ballet’s lead dancer, Benjamin Millepied is now an unmissable dance figure. He also had experiences in cinema, like in Black Swan of Darren Aronofsky. He choreographed the movie’s dances, starred in it, and trained his future wife, Nathalie Portman. Since then, he has directed a number of short films, commercials, and music videos in collaboration with artists including Philip Glass, Mark Bradford or Lil Buck.
In 2012, he created his company where an artist’s collective from different sectors is involved (music, plastic arts, movie…). At this time, LADP started to share more than an artistic vision of dance, but a vision of being in this world, sublimed by american famous dancers.
This show will be introduced by White, Star and Moon, a homage of one of the contemporary dance creator, Martha Graham. Then, discover Murder Ballades of Justin Peck, choreographer and New York City Ballet’s soloist. Finally, be transported by Closer, a duo full of grace, and Hearts & Arrows, a performance where the word “asymmetrical” will take all his sense.
